Sydney is one of the most photographed cities on Earth, and somehow, it still surprises you. The way the light hits the Harbour Bridge from Kirribilli at 5:30am in July. The colour the ocean turns at Freshwater Headland an hour before sunset. The way the valleys of the Blue Mountains disappear into silver mist after winter rain. These aren't postcard moments. They're the ones that happen when you've been there long enough, and waited long enough, to witness something most people never see.
As a Sydney-based photographer specialising in coastal and landscape photography, I've spent years returning to the same locations across Sydney Harbour, the Northern Beaches, and the Blue Mountains, at different hours, different seasons, different weather conditions, until I captured something worth putting on a wall. This collection is the result of that patience.
The Sydney Harbour Collection
Sydney Harbour is perhaps the most iconic stretch of water in Australia, but the images that move people aren't the obvious ones. My Harbour collection focuses on quieter moments: the pre-dawn stillness of Lavender Bay, fog drifting across the water toward the Opera House, the reflection of city lights on the surface at blue hour.
These images work particularly well in modern Sydney apartments and homes where the city itself is part of the story, a reminder of place, and belonging to it.
Featured locations: Kirribilli, Lavender Bay, McMahons Point, Mrs Macquaries Point, Barangaroo, Milsons Point.
The Sydney Harbour prints are especially popular as housewarming gifts for people who've recently moved to Sydney, or who are homesick for it.
The Northern Beaches Collection
The Northern Beaches stretch of coastline, from Manly to Palm Beach, is where I do most of my coastal seascape work. The sandstone headlands, the long sweeping beaches, the rock platforms exposed at low tide, the way swell wraps around the points and creates those long silky exposures that only long-exposure photography can capture.
This collection has a different energy from the Harbour work, wilder, more elemental. The ocean is the subject, and the light is what transforms it. I shoot these mostly at golden hour and blue hour, and often in conditions other photographers would stay home in. The best coastal light frequently coincides with approaching weather.
Featured locations: Freshwater Headland, Curl Curl, Dee Why Point, Narrabeen, Collaroy, Avalon, Palm Beach, North Head Manly.
Long exposure coastal prints look extraordinary in bathrooms, coastal-style living rooms, and beach houses. The slow, silky water creates a calming presence in any space.
The Blue Mountains Collection
The Blue Mountains sit about 90 minutes west of Sydney, close enough for a day trip, wild enough to feel like a different world. I've been shooting there across every season, and the landscape transforms dramatically depending on the time of year and the weather.
In winter, the valleys fill with mist and the eucalyptus haze turns the ridgelines silver-blue. In summer, the golden light rakes across the sandstone cliffs at dawn and creates deep, dramatic shadows in the valleys below. Autumn brings unexpected colour to the exotic trees planted around Blackheath and Leura, contrasting against the native bush.
The Blue Mountains images in this collection are primarily shot from the classic viewpoints, Echo Point, Govetts Leap, Hargraves Lookout, Sublime Point, but composed and timed in ways that feel anything but familiar.
Featured locations: Echo Point (Three Sisters), Govetts Leap, Hargraves Lookout, Sublime Point, Wentworth Falls, Blackheath.
