I am a South Asian family photographer Sydney families turn to when the photographs need to hold more than a pose. Working from a studio in North Kellyville, I photograph everyday local families — the grandparents visiting from India, the first Diwali in a new home, the cousins who only gather once a year.
As an Indian family photographer Hills District residents can reach in minutes, sessions run on outdoor golden-hour locations, in your home, or in the studio. Saree pleats, a lehenga dupatta, a sherwani that needs to sit straight, mehndi hands that deserve their own frame — I know how these outfits move and how to light the fabric, zari and jewellery so the colour stays true rather than washing out.
I also know the pacing and etiquette of our occasions: when the pandit needs space, when elders should be seated for group portraits, which rituals happen only once and cannot be repeated for the camera. Nobody has to explain the ceremony to me mid-function, and no one is asked to hold an unnatural pose through a moment that matters.
This is not generic portrait direction applied to a cultural setting. It is direction built around the way our families actually celebrate.
